Cosmetic Dentistry is a field of science that focusses on improving the dental aesthetics such as enamel repair, tooth widening, shaping, orthodontics and bonding.

Orthodontics and Prosthodontics are two specialties that fall under cosmetic dentistry where, orthodontics focusses on treating crooked teeth and disproportionate jaw while prosthodontics deals with implants, enhancing smile and treating temporomandibular joint disorder (TMJ).

Crooked teeth, stains, Red gums, odd shaped teeth, gaps or missing teeth, uneven teeth length and discolored teeth are some of the conditions that can be successfully treated through cosmetic dentistry.

Teeth whitening, dental implants, porcelain Veneers, Invisalign are some of the procedures carried out to treat various dental conditions in cosmetic dentistry.

Some of the courses in cosmetic dentistry include Oral medicine, Endodontics, Advanced aesthetics, Cosmetic dentistry methods, Orthodontics, Dental Law, Radiology, pain management etc.

To qualify in cosmetic dentistry one must complete a formal education & training of 2-3 years in this field after graduating from a dental school.

This field has evolved in recent times with many new procedures and materials making it more and more popular and a lucrative profession.

Whiter teeth, enhanced smile, fast and improved treatment methods and painless treatment are some of the advantages of cosmetic dentistry.

Cosmetic dentistry procedures are generally expensive and are not covered by insurance and hence cannot be afforded by everyone.
